Sikanderpur market

The whole street opposite Sikanderpur market on MG road is host to a number of shops selling furniture in various materials and products. Almost everything can be found here, from swings, dining tables, beds to even marble mini-mandirs. This area is just a short walk from DLF City court and not too far from the Sikanderpur Metro Station.

The furniture market is exhaustive. Infact I could find many of the latest designs available here- that to at non-designer prices. There’s furniture available in different varieties of material- from cane, iron and marble to different types of wood. They will even build a piece of furniture according to your specifications. One can choose the dimensions and the material along with the design and get a customised piece and depending on your negotiation skills the customisation may not come with a substantial price tag. Unlike the Sector-56 market, here they normally do not sell used stuff. But some people get their old furniture redone over here and you might find an odd old piece available for sale every now and then.

If you are a cane furniture freak or just want to add the odd cane piece to your terrace, balcony or garden, this is THE place for you. Here you can explore the market for cane chicks -which start at Rs 20 per square feet and go upto Rs 120 per square feet- to cane baskets which start from Rs 50 and go upto  Rs750 or even cane stools, garden chairs & tables among others.
There are also a number of bamboo products available here. Swings or jhoolas made with bamboo draw a lot of attention and cost anywhere from Rs. 4000 –Rs 14000. Again good negotiation skills might come in handy.
f2For those who value durability and want long lasting stuff, there’s a plethora of wrought iron products on display here. They stock a huge and interesting variety of garden furniture. The ornate white table and chairs set can potentially add a vintage vibe to any terrace, garden or porch .The wrought iron planters can be a welcome addition to any balcony.
f6Towards the fag end of the market one can find stone and marble sculptures, and many other ornamental products. There are fountains made out of marble and even mandirs or temples .They also sell exquisite idols of deities made in marble and other stones. There are a variety of stone sculptures and pebbles available here to spruce up your lawn or a terrace garden. And last but not the least- the ubiquitous bean bags can be purchased here as well.
