On a Friday afternoon we ventured into the
quaint lanes of Shahpur Jat ,my first time ever to this part of the capital
city. I was surprised to find clean lanes with dotted with chic boutiques away
from the mayhem and bustle that I normally associate with Delhi. What brought
me here was the curiosity to take a sneak peek at Kanelle’s new spring summer collection 2015.

I entered the boutique and met the pretty designer Kanika
Jain who was dressed in a lovely white dress accessorised by a bold
gold neckpiece. The inspiration behind Kanika’s spring summer 2015 collection
was free spiritedness and it did come
alive in this collection which must have been a difficult feat for the
designer. The collection’s Indo European and that translates into understated elegance. I browsed around
the store and checked out the offerings. Flowy silhouettes, pretty blush pinks, rust
and ethereal whites, the clothes had me transfixed; the kind of spread that can
fire up the hidden fashionista in anybody. Apart from some utterly feminine clothing
I came across some bold edgy corsets. These paired with simple outfits appeared
just perfect. The contrast of textures and combination of pieces, colours seemed
just right. It’s not just the designs but even the choice of fabrics that range
from organic cottons, linens, georgettes that
make these pieces a must have in anyone’s wardrobe.
The jewellery that Kanika designs showcase another element of her creativity.. There were muted gold pieces with tassles which had a very earthy vibe to it. Then there were the
bold clunky ones which had the Goth meets bling vibe. Each piece of jewellery
is handcrafted , and the details are
applaudable right from the beading, the diamantes, to the stones used .And if
you though this was all that could be offered there’s more, bags and shoes! The
bags were quirky and can jazz up the jadest of wardrobes.
I foresee a bright future for Kanika and look forward to visiting her boutique soon to jazz up
my wardrobe.
