Yauatcha- Review

A visit to Yauatcha of the famed Michelin star family jazzed up an otherwise lazy Saturday afternoon. As I walked into this laid back restaurant that’s famous for its dim-sums, it was a pleasure to discover that the place is very kid friendly too. The place resembles an electronic circuit, made up of various nooks that afford privacy yet are interconnected. As expected, the place was packed; I suggest you reserve a table in advance if you wish to dine here on a weekend.

While the boisterous bar may attract everyone else, I was interested in the varieties of tea that they offer and asked for the Orchid pao chung cha to accompany my dimsums which arrived shortly. The fragrant, floral quality of the tea uplifted my senses and set the ball rolling. Yauatcha’s new menu comprises of 10 different dimsums from 10 different regions of China. We started off with chiu chow from the southern china. An almost transparent covering enclosed a tasty filling - the presence of peanuts  lent a dose of nutty goodness. Vegetable Crystal dumpling arrived next and did not fail to impress. The soft pillowy goodness, that was Char Siu Bao encased mock-meat, which confused even my carnivore co-diners.
Vegetable chive dumpling impressed with a unique presentation as well as with its health quotient that in any way didn’t mar the flavor quotient. High protein Edamame- transformed into a delectable velvety mash- the stuffing for the Truffle edamame dimsum was out of this world and impressed me with its subtlety. Although Yauatcha’s famous for its dimsums that didn’t deter me from gorging on to the mains which that day comprised of  stir fried French beans, some lotus root stir fry, braised tofu claypot and spicy rice with edamame beans. All of them rated really high on the appetizing value scale.
Surprisingly the food being light and healthy gave me the leeway to indulge in a coffee hazelnut pave served alongside some  icecream  and this was the cherry on top for a lip-smacking afternoon.
