Experience Luxury at Aahana

Luxury for me is space and greenery, something that most city dwellers are deprived of. Aahana sounded like the perfect  combination of nature, wildlife spotting, naturopathy and that  enticed me enough to embark on a 7 hour bumpy ride.
Nestled in a nondescript village lies this huge resort. A simple wooden board marks the entry of the resort  the place doesn't stand out ,instead it blends harmoniously with its surroundings. Traditional music , garlands and tikka welcomed us and the fatigue of the journey was washed away with a local drink made with rhododendron flowers which has several medicinal benefits.

Check in was smooth and  I escaped to my room with my keys. My first impression about  the room was that it's huge, I was staying alone this time but it can easily accommodate a family of 3. High ceiling exuded an old world charm and also kept it cool.   I'm finicky about bathrooms and the bigger they are, the better it is for me. Mine was not just huge but also had an interesting mosaic bathtub. With the green and brown colour palette of the room, I felt one with nature despite being indoors.

I didn't take this long journey to be indoors so I was soon out of my room and exploring the compound. Lush greenery all around, giant trees labelled for laymen like me, and there's also a board that lists the birds found in this area- perfect place to be with inquisitive kids.

For me food and travel go hand in hand and I was curious about what this place had to offer . It was a delight to discover the effort put in to use local organic ingredients and cook healthy food. The variety of grains used, cuisines offered made every mealtime an exciting affair. As the sun begins its descent, the area around the restaurant springs to life  - 1st with high tea and then when the moon's out- its time for bonfire. A couple of local singers serenaded us with melodies and even ensured we got our groove on a starry moonlit night.

This is the kind of place that wants to soothe and not stimulate its guests. Wake up in the morning , stretch your limbs in early morning and evening yoga sessions, indulge in their rejuvenating spa therapies, languish in the giant pool or just cycle/walk on its verdant expanse.
Aahana is the perfect place to escape the daily grind  and get in touch with yourself through yoga and naturopathy. it's not just physical but also soul therapy !
