The Village Balcony, HKV

The Village Balcony (TVB) is the latest entree to HKV having launched themselves on 5th November. The location they got for themselves is the best one in this eatery cluster in Delhi!

TVB has attempted a menu with Indian fusion, European and South Asian cuisine. Having been greeted by Sushil, the restaurant Manager, we opted to sit in their balcony. The interior is woody, contemporary and cosy enough while you see the Chefs at work through the glass window that separates the eating area with the kitchen!

Amongst what all we ordered:
Grilled Sattu soup: A first of its kind, this gram flour based soup was garnished with curry leaves and coconut pieces. A north-south Indian mix which was pretty good in taste!

Chatara patta: This starter is a modern form of bhel! Complete with banana chips, puffed rice (muri) and a tangy lemony spiced mix, the modern bhel has arrived!

Marwari Empanadas: an attempt at fusion, the gujiya shaped empanadas had a samosa filling in it. The representation was good but I felt I was eating samosas in gujiya shape! Wasn't that impressed with this creation frankly.

Chicken Hush puppies: I liked the chicken dumplings served on a tomato base with crisp croutons. With three big chicken hush puppies, the combination of the sauce was great!

Chilli bean village noodles: Stirfried chicken slices with udon noodles and chilly bean curry, this concoction was good to taste specially with coriander leaves sprinkled with sprouts. This was interesting!

Chicken in rum: Chicken drumsticks with a sweet sour tangy flavour offered with a good well made barbecue sauce, this one was my favourite! Loved the chunky chicken legs, soft, succulent and full of flavour! Awesome!

All the while, we asked for some cocktails from their still-developing drink menu, Sushil suggested the Mint Julip which is a base of whiskey mixed with lime juice, mint syrup and crushed ice. Nice! The other cocktail was the Bloody Thai Martini made of gin, lemongrass, Thai ginger, basil leaves and kafir lime! The Thai flavour was overwhelming but again a first for me! I liked it!

Overall, TVB is a great attempt and great place to spend a winter evening with your special one! The price is very reasonable and service is prompt! I liked it! Surely recommendable!

I was invited to review this restaurant!
