Crowne
Plaza Gurgaon recently renovated Café G and one of the features added was a Teppenyaki counter. This
has now been put to good use by hosting a Japanese Food festival. To
create the feel there were some knick knacks strategically placed. The Japanese
fan, umbrellas and lanterns all introduced a new element without overpowering
Café Gs original vibe.
The regular buffet includes some Japanese fare . However
it was the Teppenyaki counter that was the focal point for this festival. Chef Aryanto Ajie smiling as always,
loves experimenting and his enthusiasm is refreshing. Breaking away from the
regular monotonous cold sushis this guy decided to make them sizzle. This was
done by frying these little beauties. So off he went rolling tempura in seaweed
and rice and then frying it up. Drizzled with a zingy ginger mayonnaise this
was like fireworks going off in my mouth and I loved it. Next he started playing
around with those spatulas , tossed some tofu, some Shimeji mushrooms and created a wonderful dish with noodles. These mushrooms
are not available in India and have been specially flown in for the festival.
Makes you feel special, doesn’t it?.
On special request and If one’s patient enough to wait
for 10 minutes, Chef Aryanto will also do mochi
icecream. The festival is on till the 24th of this month.
